Private Blood Tests & Hormone Testing
Evidence-based blood testing to help understand your health, not simply collect results
Blood tests can be an important part of assessing your overall health, but they’re not always necessary.
Many women assume they need hormone blood tests to diagnose perimenopause or menopause. In reality, for most women over the age of 45, menopause is diagnosed based on your symptoms and menstrual history rather than hormone levels, which naturally fluctuate.
At Time to Pause, I only recommend blood tests when they’re clinically appropriate. My aim is to request investigations that are likely to provide useful information, avoid unnecessary testing and ensure you understand what your results mean and how they may influence your treatment.
Whether you’re looking to investigate ongoing symptoms, monitor hormone replacement therapy (HRT), assess your cardiovascular health or simply gain a better understanding of your wellbeing, I offer a range of carefully designed blood test packages to suit your individual needs.
Blood tests can be arranged at Time to Pause, with results reviewed and explained as part of your care.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need hormone blood tests to diagnose menopause?
Usually not. In women over 45, menopause is generally diagnosed based on your symptoms and menstrual history rather than hormone blood tests, as hormone levels naturally fluctuate.
Which blood test package should I choose?
If you're unsure, don't worry. I'll recommend the most appropriate tests based on your symptoms, medical history and treatment goals.
How quickly will I receive my results?
Most results are available within a few working days, although some specialist tests may take a little longer.
Will you explain my results?
Yes. Results are reviewed personally, and you'll receive a clear explanation along with any recommendations for further investigation or treatment if needed.
Can I book blood tests without a consultation?
No, if you have complex symptoms or you're unsure which tests are appropriate, a consultation beforehand is often the best place to start.
