Contraceptive Implant Fitting & Removal

Specialist contraceptive implant procedures in a calm, supportive environment

The contraceptive implant is one of the most effective and convenient forms of reversible contraception available. Once inserted, it provides highly effective contraception for up to three years, without the need to remember a daily pill.

Whether you’re considering having an implant fitted for the first time, replacing an existing implant or having one removed, my aim is to make the process as straightforward and comfortable as possible.

At Time to Pause, all implant procedures are performed personally by Dr Rebecca Jacques, an experienced GP with specialist training in women’s health and contraception.

Appointments take place in our comfortable private clinic at Stockton House, Southam, Warwickshire.

We’ll then arrange a convenient appointment for your procedure.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the contraceptive implant last?

The contraceptive implant provides highly effective contraception for up to three years.

Is the implant fitting painful?

The procedure is performed using a local anaesthetic, so you should only feel some pressure during insertion. Your arm may be a little sore or bruised afterwards for a few days.

How long does the appointment take?

The procedure itself is usually quite quick, although we allow plenty of time to answer any questions and ensure you feel comfortable throughout.

When does the implant start working?

This depends on when it's inserted during your menstrual cycle. We'll explain when you'll be protected and whether you need to use additional contraception for a short time.

Can the implant be removed early?

Yes. The implant can be removed at any time if you decide you would like to stop using it or wish to become pregnant.

Will my fertility return after removal?

Yes. Fertility usually returns very quickly after the implant is removed.
